We Have an Appointment w/ the Fertility Clinic
Our cat dragged in a mantis. You spent hours
gluing its legs back on & replacing its eyes
w/ firefly abdomens that you wired together
using veins stripped from a magpie’s throat
your own knowledge of aboriginal physic.
You hung this like chandelier. Each time light
switched on you saw new weeds. I followed
their roots but couldn’t find more fireflies.
